In 1974, Don Cox began his journey in the oil industry with Willis Oil Tool, travelling to 32 countries. Along the way, he learned the true value of hard work and the importance of building lasting relationships—whether with suppliers, customers, or employees. In 1980, Don returned to Edmonton and founded CRC Wellhead Supply. Under his leadership, CRC grew from a small operation with just three employees to a trusted supplier of oilfield components, boasting a team of 30 and a loyal customer base. Don remained actively involved in the company’s daily operations until his passing in 2009.

For those who worked with Don, he was more than just a boss—he was a mentor and a friend. His generosity and wisdom often meant more than a paycheque, and he treated his employees like family, valuing each and every one. Don also held his customers in the highest regard, ensuring every order was handled with the expertise that CRC is known for today. He was affectionately called the “doughnut man,” a nod to his tradition of visiting clients with a dozen doughnuts in hand—always fostering the relationships that were so important to him.
